What races are part of this event? Is it just an olympic-distance triathlon?
The 2021 Got the Nerve? is comprised of sprint & olympic-distance triathlon, duathlon, and aquabike
What are the distances of each leg of each race?
SPRINT DISTANCES (Saturday)
Triathlon – 500 meter lake swim, 10.5 mile bike, 5k run
Duathlon – 2.5k run, 10.5 mile bike, 5k run
Aquabike – 500 meter lake swim, 10.5 mile bike
OLYMPIC DISTANCES (Sunday)
Triathlon – 1500 meter lake swim, 21.1 mile bike, 10k run
Duathlon – 5k run, 21.1 mile bike, 10k run
Aquabike – 1500 meter lake swim, 21.1 mile bike
Is there a limited number of spots?
Due to the current COVID mitigation efforts, each day of racing is capped at 250 athletes.
How does buy now, pay later work?
If for any reason the event is cancelled prior to August 1, 2021, your card will not be charged. If we determine the event will be able to take place in the current environment after August 1, 2021, your card will be charged.
What is your refund policy?
If you chose that you no longer would like to do the event, and the event is canceled prior to August 1, 2021, your card will not be charged. If the event is not canceled, your card will be charged on August 1, 2021. You will have an option to take a deferral to one our 2022 events for a $30 Fee. All deferrals must be requested to firstname.lastname@example.org by August 15, 2021. No refunds will be issued.
How does the USAT (USA Triathlon) status affect me?
The Got The Nerve Triathlon is officially USAT sanctioned and recognized as paratriathlon friendly.
Per USAT rules the following three items are now in effect:
#1 – Your race age is determined by your age on 12/31/2021, not your age on race day.
#2 – All entrants must agree to the USAT waiver in addition to the event waiver.
#3 – Each entrant, whether individual or relay person, must be a 2021 USAT member. If the entrant is not a 2021 USAT member, they may purchase a 1-day USAT license directly through the event registration.
Are wetsuits permitted?
Yes, but are not required.
What is the temperature of the lake?
The average temperature of the lake is 60° – 80°.
Is the pH of the water tested?
The pH of the water is tested according to USAT standards.
What time is the lake open on race day?
The lake opens 15 minutes before the first wave.
Do you have a map of the course?
Maps can be found on the race information page.
Is the swim a mass start?
No. The swim is a time trial start in mini waves. Waves are determined by LinMark.
What is the minimum age?
There is NO minimum age requirement for the Sprint or the Olympic Distances. For our younger athletes, we may require proof of swimming proficiency.
Where are results / pictures posted?
Links to results and race photos will be posted here after the race.
All competitors will also receive an email after the race with links.
How can I become a corporate sponsor?

Are teams permitted?
Yes. 2- and 3-person teams are permitted with one person doing the entirety of each leg. Mixed-gender teams are fine as well. IM ABLE teams that have a disabled athlete are accepted as well.

What do you do with inclement weather?
Race will proceed rain or shine, but the race director will determine if weather is severe and make decision on race day for delays or cancellation.
Can I pick up my friend / family member race packet on packet pick-up day?
Yes, if you are picking up for a friend, you must bring a signed note as well as a copy of their photo ID and USAT license in order to obtain their packet.
Where can I park?
Plenty of parking is available on-site.
Is the event family and spectator friendly?
