What races are part of this event? Is it just an olympic-distance triathlon?
The 2023 Got the Nerve? is comprised of sprint & olympic-distance triathlon, duathlon, and aquabike
What are the distances of each leg of each race?
SPRINT DISTANCES
Triathlon – 600 meter lake swim, 11 mile bike, 5k run
Duathlon – 2.5k run, 11 mile bike, 5k run
Aquabike – 600 meter lake swim, 11 mile bike
OLYMPIC DISTANCES
Triathlon – 1800 meter lake swim, 31 mile bike, 9 mile run
Duathlon – 5k run, 31 mile bike, 9 mile run
Aquabike – 1800 meter lake swim, 31 mile bike
What is your refund policy?
No refunds will be issued.
How does the USAT (USA Triathlon) status affect me?
The Got The Nerve Triathlon is officially USAT sanctioned and recognized as paratriathlon friendly.
Per USAT rules the following three items are now in effect:
#1 – Your race age is determined by your age on 12/31/2023, not your age on race day.
#2 – All entrants must agree to the USAT waiver in addition to the event waiver.
#3 – Each entrant, whether individual or relay person, must be a 2023 USAT member. If the entrant is not a 2023 USAT member, they may purchase a 1-day USAT license directly through the event registration.
Are wetsuits permitted?
Yes, but are not required.
What is the temperature of the lake?
The average temperature of the lake is 60° – 80°.
Is the pH of the water tested?
The pH of the water is tested according to USAT standards.
What time is the lake open on race day?
The lake opens 15 minutes before the first wave.
Do you have a map of the course?
Maps will be coming soon. Check back for updates!
Is the swim a mass start?
No. The swim is a time trial start in mini waves.
What is the minimum age?
There is NO minimum age requirement for the Sprint or the Olympic Distances. For our younger athletes, we may require proof of swimming proficiency.
Where are results / pictures posted?
Links to results and race photos will be posted here after the race.
All competitors will also receive an email after the race with links.
How can I become a corporate sponsor?
There are many levels of corporate sponsorship. See the Sponsorship page for details.
We are also open to other creative ideas you or your company might have.
Are teams permitted?
Yes. 2- and 3-person teams are permitted with one person doing the entirety of each leg. Mixed-gender teams are fine as well. IM ABLE teams that have a disabled athlete are accepted as well.
Can I have a 2-person team?
Yes.
How can I volunteer?
Got the Nerve? would not be able to function without the efforts of our volunteers. There are many, many areas that need to be covered. Please check back for volunteer sign-up closer to race day.
What do you do with inclement weather?
Race will proceed rain or shine, but the race director will determine if weather is severe and make decision on race day for delays or cancellation.
Can I pick up my friend / family member race packet on packet pick-up day?
Yes, if you are picking up for a friend, you must bring a signed note as well as a copy of their photo ID and USAT license in order to obtain their packet.
Where can I park?
Plenty of parking is available on-site.
Is the event family and spectator friendly?
Yes.
Is the event dog friendly?
Yes.
Are showers available at the race site?
Yes.
Will concessions be available at the race site?
Yes.
Are there bathroom facilities at the race site?
